Team History
“If you build it, they will come” . . . The Annapolis All-Stars were born in Pat & Emily’s kitchen in February, 2004. Recognizing the wealth of dispersed talent in the DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis area, founders Mark Determan, Emily Paterson, and Pat Paterson decided to fill the void by creating a team founded on 2 philosophies: winning, and fun. First to sign on were veteran players Alex “Boat” Tiersky and Ben Snyder, and Boat’s wife, former Godiva national champion Anouk Savineau. From this core of talented players grew an extremely fun, competitive team.
Molded around the two philosophies of winning and fun, the roster developed into a formidable combination of offensive handlers, tall defenders, enthusiastic newcomers, and savvy veterans. The team’s debut landslide victory at the Beth Coleman Invitational at Cape Henlopen confirmed what many suspected: the All-Stars were a force to be reckoned with!
The team ramped up for the fall with impressive performances (and small numbers) at Choptank and Chicago Heavyweight Championships. When the entire squad gathered for the first time at Regionals, the results proved the All-Stars could go the distance.
As the team prepares for the National Championships, two objectives remain at the forefront: winning and more fun! With over 80 years of combined Nationals experience on the team and an arsenal of offensive plays and defensive tactics, the team has its eyes on the prize. At Sarasota, the All-Stars will prove to others what it already knows: all roads to Nationals go through Annapolis!!! |
