Finals: Riot and Prime know each other very well. The two teams are from the same section, and have faced off in many tournaments. Riot is having a great tournament and has not really been challenged yet; Prime looked weaker early on, but dominated quarters and played a great game to win semis.

On the goalline, Vivian Zayas (#5) throws a nice inside-out flick to Sara Gersten-Rothenberg (#10) for the score.
Prime takes a time out, presumably to work out their zone offense. Sure enough, Riot sets the Z but Prime works it well. Riot's four person cup denies the dump; Prime breaks it by getting the disc either outside to a handler who then zips it to a popper in front of the cup, or by faking the cup enough so that the throw to the middle is open. Riot is forced to transition to man defense, and Prime punches it in. 5-4. Prime decides to try their own zone to man (after only a few). Riot works it up but turns it over. Riot sets the zone. Val Dion (#66) has a nice opening to Jill Calkin (#19), but zips it behind her. Prime plays tight D and Riot turns it over. Prime hucks to Calkin, but though the throw has nice float on it, she can't get there; she seems tired. Prime's defense is very close once again, and Riot cutters have to make a lot of athletic catches to maintain possession. There's a bad throw to Vida Towne (#9), who lays out high but can't catch it; Cat Pittack (#12) saves it for Riot. She puts up a bladey flick to Duffy, who makes the grab. 7-5.
Riot goes zone once more, and Stephanie Chow throws a terrible blade that's D'd. Wise has the disc on the goalline and throws a high release flick that's too high and trailing away from Roth. Prime gets a second chance and works it well this time against the zone, forcing Riot to go man. Then Chow has a nice long away look to Calder for the score. 7-6. Riot moves it well and gets to down near the endzone, but Cussen puts one up that's too short to Deleeuw. Riot sets the zone but has to go immediately to man after good Prime movement. Riot has now been on a five point run to open up the game. On the next point, Prime finally stays turnover-free to score. Then Cussen throws too far in front of Duffy, and Prime has a chance; but Dion throws it away on the goalline. Zayas hits Scott for the Riot score, and it's 15-9. Prime hucks it on the next point to Calder, but Cussen makes the D. Cussen then throws it away long. Riot goes zone, and Prime zips it around and through the cup, but turns it away on the goalline. Riot works it up to Zayas, who turns it over long, with the observer overruling the foul call. Prime works it nicely downfield but turns it on the goalline again. This point is just endless; Riot hucks, D'd, Prime hucks, D'd, Riot works it down patiently to the endzone and calls time out. But then they turn it over, and Prime has great offense against the Riot zone. Prime scores, wins the hell point, and it's 15-10.

She throws to Duffy in the endzone, Duffy makes the easy catch and Riot wins, 17-12.
After years of winning Worlds, the Seattle women's team has their first Nationals championship trophy. Prime and Riot slowly moved through the lines, exchanging hugs and congratulations. For the second year in a row, it's an all Northwest finals, and the region kept the two strength bids by having all four teams in quarters. These teams win with speed, athleticism, defense, and lots of hucks, a very different style from the Godiva championship teams of the nineties. Other up-and-coming teams, such as Rare Air and Backhoe, play a similar style, though with more turnovers. For now it seems as though the Northwest look is the look of the future; conservative offense is out, and exciting, hucking O and layout D is in.
