Thursday's games to watch:
Round 1: The least interesting round of the day, this one's going to seed. Nemesis faces a strong Riot team and will lose by a lot; Fury will not repeat their mistake at Labor Day and will dominate Safari from the get-go; and Prime will have their offense clicking against Brute Squad. The only possible close game is between Godiva and BNOGO, and it will be an interesting debut for the Boston squad. The 2-4 games will be even more lopsided, since there's quite a big gap between the top eight and the bottom four.
Round 2: Now it gets more fun, as all of the 2-3 games could be close. In Pool A, Ozone and Nemesis are quite closely matched and this will be a battle. If Nemesis can stay positive, they'll win, but it'll be a squeaker. Safari has the chance for the upset over Schwa in Pool B, but they won't be able to hold on to the lead. Schwa will win going away. Rare Air will be looking beyond their game against BNOGO in Pool C. BNOGO has nothing to lose and will come out hard against the Colorado team, and could manage the upset if Rare doesn't focus. Brute Squad versus Backhoe may also be close in Pool D, but when Backhoe steps up the deep game, Brute Squad won't have an answer. Backhoe gets the win.
Round 3: These are the games that the two seeds have been preparing for since the schedule came out. Still, Ozone in Pool A and Schwa in Pool B will get crushed by Riot and Fury, respectively. Pool D features Prime against Backhoe, an exciting matchup given both team's propensity for hucking. Prime will win, but it will be closer than they'd like. The best hope for an upset is Rare Air over Godiva, but Godiva matches up well. Their D won't force turns, but Rare will give them up anyway, and Godiva will make fewer mistakes on their way to a win. The 3-4 games will all go to seed, with the possible exception of Zanzara vs. Brute Squad in Pool D. |
